Wip WIP Kerngard - fantasy map

    Hey,

So I was recently commissioned for a new fantasy map. This is a norse/viking-like region called Kerngard for a GM's campaign setting he's gonna run soon ( 4252x4252px). As usual I wanted to share steps with the guild Started with the landmass, sea background and waterlines mainly. I 'll use a fresh new set of mountains I previously draw to use for this funny project though I won't use the biggest ones. Have several options for forests (one I like much that I have to try). Currently working on compass, I'll post progress later... Here what I did so far.

Added compass and rhumb lines and while I was at it, I did a second one (couldn't help myself). Also worked a bit on colors/textures of land and sea and added highlights on sea around the coasts.

Hey this map looks awesome man! Would it be possible for me to know the steps you took to get to this second image? It would also be nice if you could do a tutorial for the compass that you've made too

    Looks good!
Is there a certain reason why the compass rose is but is rotated a few degrees instead of pointing straight to the top for north?

Thanks Well not really, It just seems that I have the bad habit to rotate them on most of my maps for esthetic resons. My own tastes don't match with straight compass but maybe I'm wrong with that I don't know
