    Wip Frostfell

This is a map I'm working on for a Campaign setting I'm working on. Though it still needs some work. I need: a font, labels, a compass and serpent, maybe a better city icon. My goal is an old style looking map. This is my first attempt at a map through gimp. I've made other maps, but new computer and lost anything I've ever made. This is an area that's a frozen desert type of thing. Not completely desert, and lots of the life has adapted to a lack of liquid water in some form or another. Think of the tundra portion of Antarctica only more fantasy. ;-)

Any hints, criticisms appreciated . Also my first post >.> <.<

It looks quite nice, it has that old hand-drawn feeling.

    A couple of comments though:

    1. Maybe use a brush with less opacity and flow for the black & white mountain shadings.

    2. Use a single round brush at different sizes for city symbols. Simple and good looking.

    3. Work a little bit on your coastline. It looks a little "flat"...

And finally, just out of personal taste, I would change the texture of the map. But that's just me, I don't like that bumpy textures.

Made some changes and added names, a compass, and the name of the map...

I disagree on the texture issue--I think the rough texture makes it appear as if it's drawn on something like animal hide or something else rough. The other points are good.

I think the font on the lables is a little too clean. It looks printed in a way that jars with the very rough, hand-drawn look of the rest of the map. A scratchy, distressed looking font would be a better looking partner.
