I'll be using the below map as my base, though i've decided to rotate and flip the map:

The map is a detailed view of a region known as Khamid, which was destroyed my a magical cataclysm some centuries ago, leaving the place a region of steep-sided islands amid a treacherous sea. most cities in the area were wiped out, though some areas remain as ruins:

Cataclysm, the: Historically, a Firmamental calamity that occurred c. 100 RM (believed to be 90 RM by some scholars) in ancient Khamid, destroying the majority of the land of Khamid, almost doubling the size of what is now the Dark Sea, creating the Broken Lands in the process. A powerful Firmamental ritual is believed to be the cause of the disaster, the Hieronésimus Marduk the man behind it, though the details are unknown.

I've been meaning to try out a pattern coastline for a while now and after seeing your latest map thought I'd try it. its fun looking through the internet for patterns to use. I downloaded a few dozen interesting things I'm keeping for future maps.

thanks i have to say i did enjoy pasting the patterns together and messing about with scales to get them looking right, same with the cartouche.

I have a very busy month ahead, finishing off my apartment ready for deliveries and installations and some commissions as well, so im trying to get this done as quickly as i can for the challenge. i can always finish it off and polish it later on. really hope i manage to get it done in time

Some more work on the map. One thing i need to try and do is speed up my work, I spend too much time messing about and dilly-dallying (yes, i just said dilly-dallying ) and very little on the actual map. Perhaps I can use these challenges to try an hone my concentration...

Started labelling. will need to face the music and do the key and mountains soon.
