    Map Archipel de Silie

    This is my first map.

    Made on: Paint, Inkscape, Gimp.

As it is a small version, you may not be able to see all the text.

For this map, I wanted to make something a little bit medieval (but not graphically). The toponyms of Silian Empire and Realm of Transdoria are in french (because they are the focus of this map). The other toponyms are totally invented, with a specificity for each people: all toponyms of the Northern Realms have a < q >, all toponyms of the Golden Country have a < x >, and all toponyms of the Nayan Confederation have a < y >.
I wanted toponyms and flags to be clues to interprete a History of this archipelago.
What can I say more ?... It was initially inspired by some Max's maps, but I think it is far enough, now...

Please, I would apreciate critics or advices for my next maps !

    Thanks !

Cool! I knew you were inspired by - Max - as soon as I saw this...
The best maps are the ones we like the most after looking at the longest.

An interesting cartoon-ish style you have there.
I do think that you need to work a bit on the landshapes...they are too uniform/straight, the coastlines need to be more squiggly.

Very nice job for your first map! I dig the cartoon style you've got going on here, quite nice indeed.

    Thank you very much !

I didn't realize that the style can be seen as "cartoonish", but indeed it can (there is something like in youth's books, I think). I will work on this for the next (or maybe after the next) ! But I really like to vectorize contour, and I think the cartoon style comes from this...

    Oh really?
I concur with Eilathen about the coastline. Also you should work on some consistent style on next maps. For now, things are too much different style from another (compass, geographic elements, fonts, sea texture). Oh well, not a bad job for a first map Keep it up!
