    Post June 2013 Entry: Ruins of Dragon Port

    Well though my time is limited at the moment and I don't know whether or not I'll be able to finish this, I've been itching to do a bit more practice on a town map. So I thought I'd try my hand at mapping mariuccij's Ruins of Dragon Port (Hex F2):

    So far I've got the bulk of the base land and sea layers done, though I am still working on waves and surf.

    Not much more work accomplished today, but here's a minor update of the waves and surf.

    Nice work on that inlet. I think it looks really nice

    How will you go about the village and the roads?
    The best maps are the ones we like the most after looking at the longest.

    10px = 1 meter (1 px = 1 decimeter);

    Thanks foremost. I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are asking. Are you asking how I am going to determine where to place these elements or are you asking about the method of creating them?

    Thanks Bogie, it took me longer to create these than I had initially thought, but I am happy with the results.

    I'm guessing your working off of that Hex map thing, so I thought I knew where you're putting everything. But are you going to make the village an icon or go detailed (same with roads)?

    Oh I see. The village and road will be done in the same quasi-realistic style as the rest of the map. I will only be mapping the town and its immediate surroundings, not the entire hex as such.

    Thanks Carbus. Here's another update. Laid out the roads and the castle walls, as well as the docs. My thinking is that the current city is built upon the ruins of an ancient civilization. The ruins of a castle still sit perched atop the cliffs (or at least it will, I haven't gotten that far yet):
