    Default Modern City Mapping Question

    Hi folks,

I'm beginning to design a modern city for a Supers RPG campaign and wanted to know if it's possible to take a map from openstreetmap.org and make it have no labels?

Alternately does anyone know anywhere to get great city stret maps that are not labelled?

Hello smiler127, welcome to the Guild!

I would think you could take any Google map and draw the streets directly from it.

I'd be interested if anyone has some good solutions to this question, too.

I've attempted to do this with relative success by using QGIS (free GIS software) and it's OpenStreetMaps plugin. Even if you have very limited knowledge of GIS (like me), a couple of tutorials is enough to learn the procedure, and then you can just repeat. It takes quite a lot of fiddling around, and trial and error, but the results are pretty good. It also allows you to remove many aspects (like labels and landmarks).

Maybe people are looking for something faster and with less effort but I would agree with Chick.
That's how I would do it, if I wasn't coming up with layout from scratch.
