Post Metropolys - Another cool boardgame map.

So I was out with by board game buds last night, and we played a new one (for me, at least) - Metropolys which we had a hoot playing.

IT was quite fun, especially with a bunch of strategic thinkers...

Here is a nice shot from board game geek showing the board in mid game. The colours are even more saturated in real life...

I'm always on the look out for a good boardgame. These days I tend to go for short, simple rule-wise and fun. E.g. 'Ticket to Ride', 'Powergrid', 'Carcasonne' and 'Hannibal' as opposed to the games I played before I got married, like 'Paths of Glory' (approx playing time 8 hours).

The reviews said that it was OK but not great in that you didn't feel that you had too much control over events. I'd be interested on your take on it.

If you want a real laugh get 'Cash & Guns', it's one of the best party games I've played in a long time.

For pure hilarity, I ALWAYS enjoy a good match of ROBO RALLY

@ravs - we really had fun with it. There were 4 of us, and only one had played it before. That one said this was the closest game they had experienced.

The only weakness is in the bonus cards... it can be pretty easy to guess the colour bonus someone is going for... though in our case, not so much as we were all thinking ahead too much. In the end I won because of collected bonus tokens, but the gap was only 2 points.

It is a nice, fast to play, easy to learn game, that (IMOO) look cool while playing

Two games you guys need to try: Cleopatra and Vegas Showdown.
Bill Stickers is innocent! It isn't Bill's fault that he was hanging out in the wrong place.
