    Post Ignazio Danti

Hi, I have no idea if this is the done thing or not, but I recently visited the Vatican Museum, and walked along the Gallery of Maps - a 120 m long gallery whose walls are completely covered in fresco's painted by the geographer Ignazio Danti, commissioned in 1580. It took Danti three years (1580–1583) to complete 40 panels detailing all of the city states and provinces of Italy, all of which are supposed to be 80% geographically accurate - in 1580!! Any way, here is Italy, circa 1580. I think old Ignazio really had some style!

it's amazing what a well-paid professional can do, even in the 16th century he did much more using brushes and spatulas, than I do today using photoshop.
Sorry any grammatical error, I'm better with Portuguese than English.
