Unnatural mountain formation?

I was wondering if there was a way I could represent an unnatural formation on a world map.

Basically, there is a large continent separated by two mountain ranges that have a small area in the middle. Like this ~| |~ However the mountain range is supposed to look like a giant wave of water facing out from each other ) ( It was created by magic to separate two people groups. I'm using GIMP, am a newbie, and can't really draw by hand. Is there a way to make this or should I just make a normal mountain range on the map and not worry about it, keeping in mind what it looks like in my head?
