Help with Burning Texture

Waaaaaait... okay, so you want something.. like... dead dead. That used to be alive but now nothing can grow, right? Like some kind of unnatural burning maybe?


Going by your story description, I'd focus on the *trees* first... then scorch them.. then try to turn it into a brush/texture... like...








Only, y'know... better than my 30 second scribbles


Edit: and using your land color as the base for the dirt/trees in your brush, of course

Photoshop has a tool called color burn (it's a hand with the index and the thumb touching each other)

have you already tried it ?

orrrrrrrrr.... since you have a "drawn" look to the other things.. mountains and hills and such... you could just draw tiny little burnt trees



which... if done to scale, on your map, would also happen to make the whole area look darker...

Jalyha, I like the second texture, and if that had the 'drawn' tree style I think it could work.

Azelor, I have tried to do some things with the burn tool but I still haven't gotten the feel that I wanted.
