That's a brilliant idea! It makes me think of network models (like peer to peer or financial connections) that actually looks like galaxies or nets. So, makes sense to map the guild this way (with an artistic vision)!

That would be cool but it would require a program or sometng to sort out the connections between people. My main trading lines are (where) linking community leaders because they are the spine of the community (sort of). Now I extended it to other worlds.

I consider adding more names but I'm not sure there enough space left. It might become too crowded. I still need to add a couple of things.

As anyone already seen a 3 dimensional compass rose ?

Bonus: I made a graphic to compare star size with their real scale. (Except for the smaller one) It's bad because the difference in size is too big. UY Scuti is 1708 times the size of the Sun and the smallest, the neutron star had a diameter of about 50 km.

No, you are not dreaming, the colors are awful. I did modifications before posting as it was even worst. Still, the forums had to convert from CMYK to RGB.
I'm still working in CMYK. I have to remember to change this next time I start a project.

That update added a lot of flavor! It feels really sci-fi now. But I have to say the readability suffered. That dark fade on the letters looks cool, but makes them blend in with the black background. Not sure what I would have done, though…

Yeah, sure, and a powerful processor in addition ! I was just mentioning what came to me. I like a lot of ideas concerning the space regions (like the net "neighbourhood" of the guild), but I agree with Lingon, the labels are more difficult to read.

Aside from readability issues, I like this map, but I would consider adding a nebula background or a little bit of colours here and there among the stars, like gaseous formations or different kind of coloured stars (you already have a little nebula but it’s kind of dull); and I think some stars could be bigger and /or brighter. Beware, I don't really know what I'm talking about , not having done a star map yet, but I think more colours and more variations could improve an already good map.

A very nice entry! I always think that galaxy maps have something mystic, a quality of unsolved mysteries and riddles...i love it.
