Wip "The Hive" Illustration - Domed City from my MOONFALL map

Alright, this is an afternoon's work. It's the first time that I try my hand at illustrating anything (and it's not even what I set out to draw either^^) and it's been a couple of long hours of trial and error so far.

"The Hive" is a location on my Moonfall map. In the period depicted by the map (2000 years after the event that gave the setting its name) it's a large city built in and around the ruins and remains of a former domed city. It's gotten its name from that fact that over time people began to build their homes hanging from the inside of the remaining dome: like the honeycombs in a bee hive.

Originally I only wanted to draw this, but now I've started with a "before" image rather than with the actual state of the location.

Thanks! Next will be the ground and me trying to get some variety and details onto those outer buildings.

I'm playing around with dune shapes, both to be eventually used and made available for others as map brushes and as fitting shapes for illustrations.

No. I was the first somewhat succesful shape I managed. II and III are more elaborate, though I'm undecided in what shape they'll work better (haven't tried the red labelled approach yet). I'm not sure if I'm taking the right approach to color them in example IV.
