July 2014 Challenge: The Northmen are coming!

I’m entering this challenge because I like the theme and because it’s a bit of time I am not competing.
I know, in the main challenge you can clash against the cool guys but this community is forgiving and understanding so I’ll take a try.
I must say I’m already in love with Diamond’s entry which seems excellent to me and so far prevented me to post anything because of my psychic subjection to such splendor. Nor I can write such a novel quality backstory in english.
The other entries seem already good and I hope to see many other entries because, as I said, I like the theme.
But enough said!

My entry is aimed to be a low fantasy analogue of a Viking invasion of a “civilized” peninsula.

Very good mountains and overall composition. I'm not really convinced with your coastal effect, though. It did not really match the rest of the map (otherwise very harmonious).

@ Ilanthar: Thank you; I changed the coastal effect, I hope it's more consistent now.

So, I added other physical features and some city icons.
