    Post My first two maps

Just started doing this, so feedback would be highly treasured.

This is an underground dungeon ran by priests who worship dragons.

The little room near the red carpet room is a secret room. I made a cover wall to put it over to add to the surprise when it appears.

The second map is right outside the cave. I tried to experiment a little with shadows.

I think it's a neat little map you have here.

I'm assuming you are doing this map for D&D? And that the scale they use is still 5 ft squares? If that is the case, and even if it isn't, you want your objects to look like they are all the same scale. For instance you have that table there in the north with four chairs around it, and that doesn't look right in comparison to the chairs elsewhere occupying single squares. Same thing with the barrels. I think it is important to decide on a scale and then size all your objects accordingly so it looks consistent and you don't get things like 10 foot long levers and gigantic chests.

A second issue is the use of space. I'm assuming that the priests don't live here. But if, for instance, you have priests or dragonlings or whatever living in this place they are going to have basic requirements that need to be met such as sleeping quarters, food stores etc. It is important to imagine how your inhabitants use this space in all aspects, even relatively mundane things like taking a dump (most medieval society just went outside or into chamber pots which they then threw outside somewhere), and it will lead you to further ideas of what to put in your map.

Oh, I do like those textures.
It has that very medieval/D & D feel to it.

(Forcas, the President of Hell in demonology, according to the Dictionary :3 I never knew that, but I thought the name was familiar. Please don't eat me.)

Thank you for your kind words sir.

And don't worry. Cartographers are friends. Not food.
