Hey,

I would like to convert data from GSHHG into an image format.

Source: GSHHG | ngdc.noaa.gov
Source 2: GSHHG - A Global Self-consistent, Hierarchical, High-resolution Geography Database

I downloaded the GEODAS software, which has a list of export formats
http://i.gyazo.com/43ad9f62afe91409fee00a4fb1a365c1.png
and there are various forms in which the data is available.

I'm not very at home in GIS software. I would like to end up with an image or a set of images which i can process in generic image editing software. But at a high resolution. Either 86400*43200 (or wishfull thinking? 345600*172800, based on zooming in the GEODAS Coastline extractor the resolution of the data is high enough though). Is it possible, and how, to extract this data (using freeware preferably).

I would prefer to learn how to manipulate the data myself, so i can expertiment a bit with it to see what works best for me. I can probably work it out myself once i know which formats and which software to use in between steps.

Thanks for reading.
