    Wip First Map

A couple a days ago I got bored and started doodling in GIMP like I do when Im bored, and after a while of doodling I decided I liked how my picture was starting to turn out, and decided to turn it into a map

this is my first map, so I didnt know where to post it, and finally decided it that this forum is probably the best spot for it.

Wow, nice start. I really like the mountains. The map is a bit dark overall...for my taste, that is.

Keep us up to date with that map.

I agree with Eilathen, looks fantastic - especially the mountains. How did you do those?

But it is a bit dark.

wow really nice job, would love to know how you did the mountains. though like a few others side it is a bit dark, don't know if you were going for the dark look though.

I like the dark, it gives a sense of emotion...dark and murky swamp where the details would never be clearly defined due to the constant shifting of the waters. But then, my maps all turn out dark too so don't pay me any mind, just know that I dig it.

The mountains I did the same way I did them as in my "Making a continent in GIMP tutorial", but with a few tweaks to make them larger.

And I agree it is a bit on the dark side, Ill try to make it a little lighter in some parts

Really nice fade in from the mountains to the plains. Did you use the smudge or blur tool manually, or did you create a path and have the stroke to blur/smudge or something else?
