October/November 2014 Challenge : The Evil Eagle's Aerie

This week, I was challenged by eViLe_eAgLe, here's how it goes.

For your commission, I'm thinking a very fantasy styled town perched upon a steep hill/cliff face overlooking either plains or an ocean, with an icon wizards tower hanging above the town.
For the city, It should probably be chock full of classic fantasy tropes for the most part, it seems like that would be great, although that can be up to you if need be.
Other than that though, I don't have any super specifications about it.

Town or city, I don't know how big it will be. And I still don't know what style to use I will have to think about it.
Maybe my city could be located inside his map ?

I made a sketch.



While very basic, it gives a good idea of the map. I'm not sure if the streets look alright, I did them a bit randomly.
And for the forest, I think I will go for the westernmost style, near the river. I prefer the look of individual trees though.

I like the layout, and the streets are a nice mix of organic and planned. Very believable.

The more I look at it the more I like the layout of the walls, it also reminds me of classic castle towns, so it's perfect for me so far.

Good to know, I made the shapes with could by difference.

Any suggestion for what kind of building I could include? There should be a temple and a guild but I haven't done them yet.

Oh, yeah, Azelor, I was thinking that this could be a location in The Northern Lands, as a seat of power and the main civilized focus of it, that alright?

So you suggest me to add large buildings since it's an important city ?
