Default Map Commission - The Shadow Realms

Started working on this yesterday and made some decent progress on it. It is a commissioned map for a comic book.

I haven't done a "hand drawn" (hand drawn on a Intuos that is) type map in a while and have been looking for an excuse to do one. It's a pretty funky concept and I am enjoying it so far.

Yeah, this is cool looking. Can't wait to see more.

I really like the feel of this, very cool! The one thing which bugs me a little: The chasm in the middle seems to have another perspective than the towns. Is this deliberate because the towns are more like some 'Icons'? Keep up the good work, hope to see more here =)

Yeah, I noticed the difference in perspective too. It's still a little on the rough side and I will have to fix that.

This looks like it's going to be an interesting map already, I love the Mesa-like landforms in the centre.

Looks nice though the mesas make me me think rather of some giant cut tree trunks. Maybe it's intentionnal?

Here's the author's rough sketch that I am using for reference. I may yet make the mesas a little less uniform.

Here is some reference, living around such things I see examples often of the concept.

Monument_Valley_Arizona_07 and if you want more just look up Monument Valley Arizona images. Hope it helps with your project.
