"The Compass and the Kraken" (Antique Map)

This was a map I created just to test out some new techniques and try out an antique style. I'd like to make a map on a larger scale in a similar style. If you have any tips or critiques, please post them below!

Did you make the compass yourself? This is really impressive, I just don't think that in an antique map they would have used so many design elements on so less actual info. Sure, it is supposed to be a test to try out new techniques and I really like the colors, subtle textures and lining you went with, but I'd put more info in or use the big compass as a design element behind more land masses. But keep it up, I'd love to see where you can take this! =)
