Default How do I make a simple map with GIMP?

Hi Im entirely new to this site but not so new to cartography in general. Now Ive made a general map with inkscape for a fantasy world Im creating and Im wondering how I expand on it using GIMP? Im basically looking to make an easily editable map that allows me edit the map, using layers I guess, to show changes in geopoliticis, cities, climate change etc... So simply put my question is how do I use the outline I already have to start in GIMP?

Hi schwert, welcome to the Guild!

If you go look through the section of this forum called Tutorials, you'll find several excellent ones on getting started and mapmaking using GIMP. That's the place for you to go next

Decide on a size you want the map to be - pixel maps aren't as easily scalable as vector maps.
Export your Inkscape map as a png or jpg file (I'd prefer png).
    Open this file in GIMP.
    Map away!
