I lke that experiment. People would generally not dare to mix green and red (especially if both are bright) , yet it works great for forests.

These are lovely. Sunny Day and Full Colour are my favourites. I've had enough of winter this year! *shivers*

    Nice maps Chick!

The first 3 are very good. I don't care for the lower 2 because there is to much blur on the trees, and the early winter one is to green.

Thank you, ChickPea and Bogie! I appreciate all the feedback Mostly I wanted to show the variety of effects I can get with just one of the color textures. They are all blurry in general, because they have to be able to overlie any forest texture, but depending on the blend mode and the underlying forest color, some look more blurry than others.

I guess I have the color balances the way I want them now, so I'll go ahead and post these. Maybe some people will try them out and post their results here so we can see what they look like on different kinds of forests.

I've made them nice and big, so they can be resized to fit any forests. They are not tileable, but they can be overlapped and the edges blurred easily to conceal the seam line, if someone needs them even bigger.

There are four color overlay textures, ranging from the first turning of leaves to full autumn color. Even in deciduous forests, there are usually some evergreen trees, so I left a bit of green even in the full color one.

I enjoyed making these and seeing all the different effects I could get, so I hope others find them useful!

Hey I like the idea. Have you tried using a layer mask to create a more gradual transition into the forests, right now that hard edge around the forests is really jarring. The one thing I think would really improve this idea is to do something similar to the grasslands, right now it seems like it's missing harmony between the forests and the rest of the map. Especially since the forests are very busy visually while the rest is more toned down. Hope that made sense. Good luck.

These are great. I might try to find a use for them at some point, because the colours are so lovely. Thanks Chick!
