    Thanks J.Edward. I attempted to follow your process plus a little added accenting with some light black lining so it matches the rest the of map. I think it works.

    I also think that means I'm about done and it's labeling and whatnot.

    Those fields are excellent and fit very well the rest of the map, imo.

    This map is really a great inspiration for me and the fields fit right in but, assuming the dark line is the depression it seems as if the light comes from the bottom left or are just my eyes not working right?

    Oh when I was drawing it I had in mind that where the thin dark line is is the top of the ridge.

    Started labeling. Any opinions on the background? Oh and that heraldic shield is where I need to draw the proper one but I'll do that last.

    The background texture looks fine to me. Are you going to put some transparency/color on your building labels? It's always a bit sad to hide completely those pretty roofs.
