Wip Seven Bridges of Königsberg (Commission) (WIP)

I was commissioned to remake the map of the city of Königsberg produced by German cartographer Johann Homann (1664 – 1724) for his Grand Atlas of all the World, focusing on the part of the map that includes the city's famous seven bridges.

The only major elements to be added that are completely absent are the interior waterway shading, the map labels, and variations of tree sizes and shapes.

    The frame is 11" x 17". Map area including surround is 8.5" x 14.5".

    Questions and comments are welcome!

I assume that people like to see how WIPs progress, so rather than replace the image for the original post I'll continue posting updates when there's something worthwhile to show. As in this example - I finally figured out how I want to label the map and the items on it. Although this method of labelling is not as common as it once was, it is identical to the original map that this map is based on.

Just a quick update, I've started adding the water shading in some places and testing using a light red colour for the labeled landmarks.

Very nice map, clear and simple but still great looking.
