Plains maps

My PC is currently wandering around a large area of plains, having random encounters. I became annoyed at how few generic plains battlemaps I was finding. All I really need is some grass and a few rocks. It's plains. Perhaps there aren't very many because it's not a terribly interesting thing to map?

Anyway, today I sat down and made five fairly generic plains encounter maps. All of the following use 100px per 5 foot square, and are 20x20 squares. Available with and without grid. All made using textures from CG textures, some photoshop witchery, and not much else.

Plains Map 1 - Plains with cliff

Not entirely happy with the cliff. Shadows for those things are hard.





Plains Map 2 - Low rolling hills

These could be innocuous hills. Or they could be cairns or similar.






Plains Map 3 - Plains with rock outcropping





Plains Map 4 - Plains with small pond and lone tree





Plains Map 5 - Flowering plains





These are perhaps not the best maps ever, but I hope someone finds them useful.

I had started on a basic grassland map with a river on it some time ago, but never completed it. There's also a copse of trees I started (was going to be the same map). Feel free to use.

What great random encounter maps.... These are sure to get much use around virtual tables by all sorts of DMs/GMs. They will get use on my Maptools sessions for sure
