Four Girls in Italy

Here is a new map I've just started based on my daughters trip with three of her friends to Italy. She kept a journal, so I'm summarizing the journal and doing 4 maps, one for each of the cities they visited. I've added a style map (Blaidd's Val Nevan) that I'd like to somewhat emulate for color/texture. It's just a start, I've haven't finished converting my daughters journal or spell checked anything yet. This format and framing was done in Adobe Illustrator (a vector program), the maps will be done in Photoshop and linked to this page. Any comments welcome. Should keep me busy for a while. Thanks Blaidd for the map style inspiration.

No real comments yet as you still have all the city work to do. But the layout and style looks great so far.

Thanks Max wasn't sure where this should have gone, it's my first project showing the process, This will be more of a town/city mapping than regional. By the way, thanks for all your inspiration your maps are truly amazing.

Here is the first map of four -- The City of Lucca, a walled city. The buildings have a number of layer styles - Bevel & Emboss, Drop Shadow, Pattern Overlay and Stroke Overlay. I do all the text in Illustrator.

Here is an updated Lucca, almost finished and 1st go at Florence, still need to add details, plazas, garden paths and refine Duomo but pretty happy so far. Any comments welcome.

I think it's going to look fantastic when completed and will be a wonderful gift.
