Default June 2015 Challenge Entry: Oriental Silk Map

The history of maps on silk goes all the way from the ancient orient to modern warfare: http://www.mapscarves.com/history.html

This map on silk is a depiction of an ancient 3-way battle for control of a large region of the orient.

Lovely. The only thing I would correct are overlapping parts in the mountain ranges.

Sapiento, you always manage to nail exactly the problem I'm avoiding, usually because either I'm not sure how best to do it, or because it's a real pain to do Thanks for always pushing me in the right directions!!

very nice map and original !

But, why you do not integrate in the canvas the rectangles of text?
    For the lisibility ?

    Great work chick.
I'd add to Guillaume's question about the little rectangles... was that just for readability?
This was a good choice for this challenge and well done for it too.

I'm assuming by this you mean the colors are fairly solid instead of blended into the texture.

The rectangles are supposed to be representing the army/navy units, but yes, visibility of the text has been difficult, not just there, but all over the map, because of the cloth texture being so strong.

I've tried a couple of things, including removing the border on the rectangles, and increasing the thickness of all the text lines, and using some other techniques to try and meld the colors into the cloth fabric texture. Does this look better to you?
