The Lands of Myth: by The Red Epic

I'll be heading to GenCon shortly, and i'll have a large table in Artist's Alley. If any of you guys are going, please stop by and chat!

Anyhow, here is a map i just completed for MegaCon Games (Which will be featured at Gencon, but not sold), well known in the tabletop minis circles for their excellent games, MYTH and MERCS. This map was alot of fun to work on, and its been a long tieme in coming. My buddy is the owner and we've been wanting to work together on something for years!

That, TheRedEpic, is one heck of a map! It is a feast for the eyes, and I love all the homages in it. So great! I especially love the trees and the way you handled all the little icons. I could stare at this all day.

Crit? Hmm... The whirlpool is distracting? (I had to really think about that, so that must mean it's not that distracting... haha!)

If you don't mind, could you describe the process you used to make it. I see you are selling a book on it, but it would be nice to see some of the process here (may convince me to buy the book).

How cool is that! Awesome.

I love the volcanos, the clouds, the miniatures drawed, the dunes, the font used... a fresh new style! If I had to put a "but..." the coastal waves don't make me dream like the other elements.

Nice departure from your usual (of late) subdued palette. I really like the little splashes of color here. And the eyeball-head men in the forest are awesome.

As a newly minted RedEpic fan who just discovered your work in the last year and a half, seeing this made me sit back and drool once more. <sigh> Just. Beautiful. I wish I was one of those who was getting to go to Gencon.

Diamond is right--this one has a broader color palette than most of your other works, and that gives it a real sense of fun and lightness. The little monster and location vignettes are smile-inducing, and they draw the viewer in to see if they can find more! And the overall package is so beautifully illustrative and fantastical--it's just quite magical to look at! Kudos!!! Thanks so much for sharing it! It's very inspirational!!!
