We are seeking a cartographic illustration of Pemberton Historical Park, a 262-acre park in Salisbury, Maryland (United States) that is both historically and environmentally significant. To learn more about the park, please visit http:www.pembertonpark.org. This is a time-sensitive project. Please see the description below. Questions can be emailed to kgoller@wicomicocounty.org.

We are seeking a designer to create a cartographic illustration for a time-sensitive project. A description is below, followed by current specifications. If this project isn’t a fit for you, please feel free to share with colleagues in the field. If you are interested in working with us on this project, please submit all-inclusive pricing as well as examples of similar work (a link to an electronic portfolio is acceptable) by 5 p.m. on Monday, August 24th to kgoller@wicomicocounty.org.

    Pemberton Park & Trail
Please see the attached example. The cartographic illustration will use the attached map as a reference starting point, as it indicates trail and landmarks within the park. The attached example should be used as a reference only, and not as aesthetic inspiration.

    Specifications:
    • Final designs must be completed and submitted by September 11 and suitable for print.
    • Final submission will include a high-res PDF along with the original, vectorized and layered map files.
    • Design must be compatible with Adobe Creative Suite CS6 (Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign). Individual layers must be visible and editable in Adobe. Files should be packaged to include fonts and any/all images.
o Individual illustrations should be created as vectorized Illustrator files. The individual vector images should then be layered within Photoshop to construct the final map.
o Design must include multiple layers, to minimally include: geographic boundaries, topography, landmarks, individual trails and text.
o Geographic boundary and topography layers should be developed first. Initial concepts must be approved before commencing with complete design.
    • Maps must be accurate (to scale) but also aesthetically pleasing. See ex: http://www.history.org/history/cwland/gardensmap.cfm.
    • Map must work cohesively with the look and feel of the Pemberton Park web site http://www.PembertonPark.org.
    • Maps must include a distance legend.
    • Artwork must be royalty free. Wicomico County will maintain the rights to all work created as a part of this project. Artist may use work in their portfolio, but not for other commercial purposes.
    • Pricing should be all-inclusive, and include any/all design time, materials, etc. needed in order to complete the project. Wicomico County, Maryland (United States) is tax-exempt. Selected vendor must complete any/all required paperwork to establish themselves as a Wicomico County vendor and be eligible for payment in US dollars via check.

Wicomico - can you elaborate at all on what the required paperwork is for being a 'Wicomico County vendor'?
And could you also elaborate on what sort of map you are looking for? The map you posted seems quite adequate.
I would be interested depending on those points.

For the map, the version I attached was drawn by hand and scanned in electronically. We are in need of a vectorized version, which we can then manipulate if new buildings are developed, trails adjusted, etc. Additionally, we are seeking a design that maintains the parks historical integrity but also compliments the look of the parks' web site (http://wwwPembertonPark.org). If you have any additional questions please feel free to reach out.
