Wip The great and holy Kingdom of Atya

This is a new map that I recently started working on. I took a lot of inspiration from this map, so any similarities are not incidental.

It's a map explaining the distribution of the lands of the Kingdom of Atya among it's vassals. The colors represent the level of vassalage, dark blue are lands in direct control of the king, middle blue represents vassals under direct control of the king and light blue represents the vassals of the kings vassals. It also contains an explanation of all the regions within the kingdom and their lords.

Not sure what to do next so I figured I'd post it on here because there always seem to be people with the feedback I need to improve my maps!

Let me know what you think!

Very nice looking map Dan! Maybe one or two things to check in the text (it's vs its) but otherwise it looks great. I like the clean layout of the map and style on that old paper, and the font is a very good fit. Nice work.

Someone has been playing "Crusader Kings"... am I right?

One thing I would add to the map, for flavour (if it works) is a layer with key cities and key rivers. Those would be "navigational markers" for the map reader, and they could also break the monotony a little.

The work done is great. Color balance, textures and font choice are spot on!

Thanks Chashio and Pixie! Yes I love that game!

I have corrected the mistakes in the text, I suppose such mistakes are easy to miss for a dutch person writing in English, right? I'll work on those navigational markers and see how it turns out.

That's a good idea Pixie. With the spelling and grammar, yes, definitely; there are a lot of people around here for which English is not their first language, and it is sometimes easy to make mistakes even when it is.

    Thanks groovey and Groondor!

I incorporated navigational markers as suggested by Pixie, adding important rivers and duchy capitals. besides that not much has been done. I think it is indeed an improvement, what do you guys think?

Hi Dan, an improvement indeed! This is a really fine map you made. My first thought when i saw this map was "CKII" too , and you absolutely nailed it. You did a great job labelling the rivers, although i think for the duchy-capitals i might not use curved labels, only straight(?) ones. The navigational lines look pretty good in my eyes, but i have absolutely no experience with them... Keep up the good work!
