Default Aug / Sept 15 Lite Challenge: Little Trees

A little while ago I made some suggestions to Barek333 which resulted in my drawing some trees, so I decided I'd have another go at it and make some trees to be put on maps. In the previous thread I basically was trying to emulate the trees Larb did in a tutorial, so I could probably have also titled this entry "Larb's Trees".

I tried a couple different styles so I'm going to attempt that again and see what comes out. My plan is to make 3 trees in Photoshop and 3 in Illustrator.

Also, I'm supposed to be drawing kobolds right now, so… shhhh!

Here are outlines for the Photoshop trees.

Thanks! Here's the Illustrator trees. At some point I'll have to combine them into one image but that can come way later. It's kind of interesting basically doing the same thing twice, once in pixels and once in vectors.

Here's the deciduous, more leafuous, and conifer outlines drawn in Illustrator.

Looking good. I'm glad you used this. Your little tutorial in the WIP post is really nice

Excellent! I'll be totally stealing your ideas for future maps, because I really like the mini tutorial you posted in the other thread.

Next, colour them in! Colour right to the edges…

Photoshop on top, Illustrator on the bottom.

Nice. Although I'm a big fan of vector art, I do like the subtle shading on the PS ones.
