Tutorial How to Make Concentric Coastal Wave Lines in GIMP

    Hi everyone!

I was looking for a guide on how to create coastal rings in GIMP and I couldn't find one. I'm still getting the hang of GIMP, so maybe there's an easier way to do this, but this is what I figured out and it's not too labor-intensive.

    Try this one: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=30388

It works the same in GIMP

Thanks, Chick, that's a much easier looking method.

I'm looking for the smooth selection feature or something comparable in GIMP and I'm not finding it. Any advice?

My process for making a map in Gimp always results in a coastline saved as a channel. To make coastal rings, make a selection from the channel, grow it a few pixels, stroke it. Grow it and stroke it until you have as many as you like. You can make each 'grow' a pixel or two larger than the previous to get wider spacing as you move further out to sea.

Myself, I'm always at sea, but that's another story...
