Aug / Sept 15 Lite Challenge: War Banner Icon Set

I played around in gimp today, to figure out an easy way to do banners. I thought, a set of them might fit into this month's lite challenge. So here we go:

I started with a rather simple one in two different colours. Others will follow...
I used the symbol of House Kharoun/ I.A.S.A as a placeholder for now . I think i will make them blank in the end and maybe add a .xcf (gimp) or .psd file (with a mini-tut) for download after the challenge, so they can be customized with emblems later...
I guess there are already similiar things around in the web (or even here?), but i think there can't be enough war banners for a horde of (fantasy) cartographers!
Comments, critique, suggestions, etc. are as always welcome!

For battlemaps it would be cool to have banners like this in an almost top town view, just slightly tilted so you can see the banner.

@ Bogie: yeah, that's a good idea! I'll give it a try, although i think other types of banners i have in mind (where the flag is only fixed on one cross beam(?)) might be better for a top-down view...

So i made another banner, this time more antique / exotic looking , and only one version for now... though i think i have to tweak it later
