The thing to consider is that the setting of the game is deeply connected to the moon(s), war and death.
I will add some more details of course, but the basic idea is here.

    Info

Rep! What a love map, well crafted and thought out, lovely colors and atmosphere! A very nice map overall!
As you wish for people being honest: I don't like either compass rose. It feels like they don't fit in there, style-wise. I'll download it and try something. =)

For the brush... if I see this right, it's basically a few dots, following the direction of the stroke.
Put this up, it's very easily made like you can see. =) [left: brush, right: stroke following direction]

Edit: Damn, I misread and meant that the pattern on the land was in question... forget about it. -.-

    Cheers, Steffen

    Here we go =)
Included crudely what I mean, it is a very different style of compass-rose, more subtle and included, but more similar to your other navigational lines. Of cause you would use your own font, but I think it works fine. You could pattern the round outside of the compass in addition. I always feel, that especially with islands and continents, something like this ties the map together connecting border / continent / sea / etc. and also guides the eye towards the center. I also thought about your effects on the title and the borders. I would tone the effects a bit down, it kind of dominates everything being a different style.

Love the continent so far though. It is simply incredible

    I quite like that.
I know some take issue with strong visual items being added to a map, like the shield/helmet I added to Menzheim.
They may feel that way about this compass.... but I like it. And ultimately you must like what you choose as well.

I'm not knocking Steffen's advice though. Just adding my opinion.

edit - I meant to add, I really like the light and shadow that you did on the compass. It looks really good.

Oops, sorry, I didn't see your post.
I actually really like the idea of getting the circle all around the continent. It actually fits well too with the setting, the capital city being a Pole (let's say magic)
I'll play with this tomorrow, for sure
And I've no problem getting rid of the compass rose, even if it was a lot of fun doing it
Thanks for the proposal, it opens new a perspective !

I didn't even notice that was what Steffen was suggesting... nice.
    Good thinking Steffen.
