Thread: Here be Dragons

    Default Here be Dragons

Hello! It's been a while since I've had anything to post here, but I finally finished a project of over three years to recreate an accurate map of Migration Era Europe. All the name spellings are translations of what they were at the time, transcribed phonetically into Fužorc runes (which is how runes were used). The political boundaries are based off of the few surviving maps and some texts to be as geospatially accurate as possible. Old forestry projections helped a little with the tree density for the major clusters and marshland, and the mountains are as they currently reside, augmented for the old perceived shape of the shoreline. The legend is loosely based off of Urnes and Migration period art, but I had to take some liberties to fit the geometry. The legend went through about a dozen different iterations before settling on this one, and although it is not totally accurate to the time period, I wanted to be done with it. Anyway, let me know what you think!

    Cheers!

Extremely cool, JSP! I really like it, it oozes flavour in spades. Especially the frame-work for the title is all kinds of awesome. Well done! Have some Rep.!
