    Post Hi Diddly Ho, Neighbors!

    Hello All,
I joined to find and (eventually) share some fantasy mapping information. I am designing a Classic D&D campaign world, for use in my home game with my kids, and some upcoming (eventually) Play-by-Post type games online.

I absolutely LOVE the look of hand-drawn maps - especially in a Erwin Raisz landform style, and that is the ultimate direction I'd like to go for my overall world map. On the other hand, I also am fond of the retro-D&D hex maps. I think my smaller scale regional maps may be more hex-based.

Still conflicted on hand-drawn vs. Photoshop/Illustrator PC mapping that looks hand drawn. I'll likely do alot of hand work, then scan and modify.

Anywho, lots to see here, so I'll be lurking and learning for the most part.

    Nice to be here!

Welcome to the Guild. I too love the old retro D&D look, especially the ol'school blue map look.

Here is a link to m take on an Old Skool D&D Map and module.

Either way: hand-drawn, scanned then digitally enhanced, or "hand-drawn" digitally and further enhanced with an application - work. I do both and it depends on the dimensions and complexity as to which way I go.

If you're happy working with hand-drawn and scanned, then that's fine, stick with it!

You'll find many either doing one way or the other, both with success.

Post some maps - you're old stuff and what you're working on right now. We'd like to see.

    Just noticed.

    Shouldn't that be:

    LOL! My bad.

Thanks for all the welcoming notes. I'm looking forward to learning and sharing over time.

Edit: Just checked out that "Old-School" module. Very neat. Love the maps, art, ans especially the retro cover. I'd love to see the whole thing written up. Nice work!
