Default Unable to save large file to PDF using Photoshop

    Hello,

I'm struggling with saving my map as a PDF. I get stuck on 96% progression, and then i get a message that my disk is full, even though i have 113 GB free disk space. What do i do? Are there any better ways to export your map?

    File info:
    8700 x 6700
    300 ppi
    798 MB
Probably close to a thousand layers

    Using Adobe CC 2015

    Thanks.

You may need to go into edit >preferences and change the setting of your scratch disk. I'm shooting from the hip here but that might be the disk that's running out of space. I'm not sure how PS goes about making the PDF but it's worth checking.

I only have one partition, and the scratch disk is allocated there. And my particular partition has 127 GB free of space.

EDIT: I got it to work when i saved as PNG. But now my problem is that i cannot upload it due to its size... suggestions? My final file size ends up at 15 MB.

No, 15mb is still to big for the Guild at least. If you want to share it on the internet, MAKE A COPY, make a smaller version of the map, or use JPEG.

Probably close to a thousand layers
flatten it first into one layer and remove the ALPHA chan
8700 x 6700 is not big, that is a average medium size image

a RAW RGB image that size Uncompressed is only 166.8 Meg

as to saving a large file

as i recall PS on Microsoft Windows uses the virtual SWAP disk
windows tends to set this very small
and will enlarge it if needed
    BUT
That takes a ton of time to do , go eat dinner OUT, have a few beers , then come back and it should be done . It might look like your system has LOCKED UP for the few hours it needs

defrag your disk twice then enlarge the swap space
there is a gui setting for it

if this is Win 7 there is a administrative maintenance HIDDEN system reg entry
make a folder on your desktop called

    " Root.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} "

    without the two ""
EVERY TOOL will be in that folder , no need to go hunting for them -- all in one place
    -- simple win7 hack

I have run into the same problem. My solution was to open the file in "Irfanview" and then either Save or Print as a PDF. For whatever reason it works fine then.
