Map My Progression (Old VS New Map)

    Hi all!
Due to an overwhelming number of requests* to see how much my skills have grown since I created my first map, I figured that it would be appropriate for me to contribute something for the good of the community**. The map on the left is the aforementioned "first ever map", and the map on the right is my remake of it using my improved cartography skills. For your convenience***, I have obnoxiously emblazoned my username over the maps as a watermark so at no stage will you be able to forget who was responsible for their creation.

**My post does not actually help the community.
***This is probably not for your convenience.

Hiya, Handsome! Your new map's a huge improvement over the original, so well done on that. Look forward to seeing your other work.

The new map looks GREAT! I have struggled horribly with city maps. I really enjoy regional and dungeon mapping and have been slowly, but steadily improving (coming from someone who is NOT very computer savvy, most certainly NOT an artist of any kind - just a GM who is creative) but I still seem to have a really hard time with the cities. I shamelessly "borrow" others when able. Great work!

Yeah you did make a lot of progress alright! Well done. I hope to see more of your work, minus the obnoxious watermarks

Thanks guys! Everything I've learned in terms of photoshop techniques and style, I learned from torstan's (amazing) tutorials, or by haphazardly trying to imitate Mike Schley's style. Lorelei, If city maps in particular are giving you grief, I strongly recommend you check this out:

It is a very different approach to mapping, but it's extremely useful - ESPECIALLY for DMs.
