Thread: Good Evening

    Post Good Evening

My name is David Smith and I live in Huntsville AL. I've been role playing since Sept of 1976. I love D&D and I love maps. I won't even read a book if the map doesn't look like some place I would want to visit.

Anyway, I've used CC2 quite a bit, tinkered with AutoREALM, dabbled with the GIMP, and downloaded Inkscape just tonight. I'm really interested in using Inkscape or something similar because of the flexibility and individuality of the finished product. My concern is the lack of pre-defined libraries (before anyone says it, I know that the predefinition is the natural enemy of individuality )

I want to get Inkscape and AutoREALM down because they're free. I'm looking forward to being part of this community, and hope to contribute as much as I can.

    Post Welcome!

    Welcome to the Guild, David1961.

Post one of you older maps - we'd like to see what you've done! Use the paper clip and at your map as an attachment.

If you want to stick with free Inkscape and GIMP are among the best and are free, but can be tough apps to learn - good tutorials here for them, but still tough for new users. Not many Autorealm fans here, I'm afraid. Good luck in your quest to finding what best works for you.

    Map One of my maps

Here is one I have been working on with CC2. There are some incomplete areas, obviously. Thanks for the tips about software, too. I found the thread with mapping software and I'm perusing it now.

    Later days,
    David

    Post Have some REP!

Have some REP - first including a map in your 2nd post! Pfft! Your blue pip has been transformed to a green pip!

One of our CC2/3 specialists should have a look to offer a better critique.

    Nice first map post!
