    Post Automatic cave battlemaps

Since I wanted to post more, I have removed my threadjack from isomage's post and am following up here....

I tried to open an image location directly into gimp to run my script on it but gimp wouldn't play nice, I assume it doesn't like the url structure even though it is a well formatted png....

...so I created an .htaccess on my server with a little php script redirect that will take a url like this http://blahblah/cave_50.png and parse out the number and pass it as a parameter to your cgi script, also putting in a random seed each time...

Gimp likes that url structure, so I tossed in a "Use a random base from Isomage's website" along with a size slider to my script, and it will go out, pull in a random cave image and process it all in one step....

Not something I'll make public but it sure makes for a neat concept!

    Map

So here is a "1-click" cave map from the script:

Name:	cave_30.png
Views:	665
Size:	2.37 MB
ID:	8178

Of course, it relies on having gimp, and both my server and isomage's server to be up and running to work, so not really a useful thing for most people

    Theres gozzy's one too...

but from the runs I made on both I think iso's is slightly better. You will have to have a pull down generator site menu... but that would then involve an extra click

Right. Now we just need to figure out what we need to do to/for Rob to get that code via pm

That's an awesome tool for use when players decide to go off piste.

Rob, I'm really impressed by your results, and if you can figure out a way to run your script as a web front-end to mine you'd be more than welcome to (although if this is any indication, you won't be needing my generator at all ). To assist, I've added a rewrite rule so you can generate images directly if you want to -- check your PMs.

    Great work.
