Updated a bit. Made the cave bigger, since it once was home to an ancient red dragon. I added some wood bridges over the stream and ladders to the cave. It didn't really work with a path straight up the cliffside.
It took 3-4 hours with an additional 30mins to make the update.
Most of the time was used to get the cliffside right. I haven't got any skills in this kind of 3d painting, so it was a lot of trial and error.

This is a great looking map. I wish that the cliffs had a little bit better impression of depth, but that is hard. It looks like the waterfall is falling almost straight down, but I am not quite sure if that is the impression that you are trying to give.

I posted some cliff textures a while back...

    they might be of use.

Theres some more good ones over at cgtextures.com too.

I like the map so far. Its true that the cliffs lack a bit of definition but cliffs are hard to get right so they look tall.

Edit -- My best shot. I know its hard to get something that looks good for cliffs. Tried many times myself.

I think the waterfall is the clue here. I like the effect if I say so myself

Yep, the waterfall is very well done. Still I agree with Landorl, it's hard to get a real impression of depth. Not that it bothers me! Not at all.

I agree about the waterfall. It is one of the best that I have seen!

This is a nice looking map, but I agree as well that the cliff isn't quite selling itself.

There are many cliffs images over at the Dundjinni forums that might help you out.

Here's also a way to do it DJ, but this method can be done in any graphics app.
