    Post Greetings

Hello everyone. I came across the community of map-makers while working on a project to programmatically create maps from GPS track data, so I'm very interested in the software and some kind of semi-automation of the terrain and symbol generation. That's my angle. Glad to have found the community.

Hi Julian, sounds like the open map project. Theres been a few like that some dealing with speed camera locations and stuff too. I hooked my GPS up to the car and submitted a few routes many years ago but I found that I always traveled on the same routes.

I write some procedural terrain generation software too. Theres a few of us around actually. Mine is GeoTerSys but its still in development. There is Fractal Terrains from our user Waldronate too. L3DT by Aaron is another. There are plenty more most of which seem to take some rough random terrain and then improve it with erosion etc. I think Wilbur would be like that along with others like GeoControl, WorldMachine, Leveller and so on.

Well theres a few names to google on.

Theres less stuff about which does symbol generation tho to my knowledge anyway.

    Welcome BTW.
