    Map Ilim Map

A friend asked me to post a map here, so here ya go. This was done for a friends campaign (Ilim).

As for the creation it is more about technique rather than raw talent. This was 100% done in paint.net, a free art program (tutorial image attached).

1 - Sketch scanned, made 2 color. I pixilated the drawing to remove any smoothing.
2 - Apply semi-transparent layer of the parchment, full map.
3 - The basic parchment background I used
4 - Apply another semi-transparent layer of the parchment, darker, for water
    5 - What I used for forests
6 - Apply semi-transparent layer of forest for greenery. Erasing the unneeded bits. Manually paint in the small areas with green.
7 - Last semi-transparent layer, clean up colors - buildings, coasts, plains, badlands, and so forth. Flattened the image and applied the labels - Dead Map Treasure Hand font. Stick a fork in it, done.

Nice map. I would suggest a tiny bit more highlights and lowlights on the mountains, but thats just me and it's a great piece either way.

Pretty nice, I especially like the cities.

Pretty cool, reminds me a bit of the earlier Ultima Online maps.

Really nice map. I'll second that thanks for the walkthrough. It's always great to see how others put their maps together.
