I agree on both counts. The color scheme on this is so washed out that it's hard to discern what's what. I'd suggest a higher contrast/higher saturation color scheme (more like what you have before) but with the cool new mountains. You can probably achieve this just by increasing saturation level of the colors.

very nice, i quite like the shape of the land, keep it up mate.
Textures and forests added.
The volcanic island is also redone.
[Edit : The second map is labelled and scaled. I thing it will be the final version of this map (wich will be hanged on ou RPG room)
