Wip Med-Like Felt Map (Sea World II)

Here's a map I've had some fun working on. It's a Med-Like area, and I experimented with noise, bump-maps and drop shadows to get the overlaid felt effect for the various areas. The scale is 900 miles x 600 miles.

Definitely different - the overlaid felt effect is a nice idea.

I think you might want to decrease the drop shadow a bit, unless the felt is really, really thick.

And perhaps blur the edges just a touch, to give it that fuzzy look that felt has. Definitely an interesting idea. Reminds me of Sunday school.

Very nice idea. If you are going for a 'felt feel' which you've really nailed, I think you probably don't need the coastlines embossed. Great idea and execution!
