Thread: [taken]-[unpaid]Adding details to a map

Tweaked the forest test a bit, but added in mountains using Wag's brushes (narrowed and converted to RGB, i.e. filled in so they could be over/under painted).

Oooh, nice... it looks almost as a CC3 map (which is a good thing I think).

    Alright -

    Here we are.

I took some liberty with the forests and desert areas.

The referenced map had geopolitical colouring, not sure if you have those or not.

I've labeled the marked cities, not happy about the font but it was a test of a new one (might be better for water features...) I can change it if desired.

    Any suggestions/changes/comments?

Want a compass rose? a border? a scale?

I ended up redoing the mountains because I had painted them on the city layer (bad RobA - not paying attention again...)

Not a big fan of the tree fill, but everything else is quite good.

Interesting. I could almost duplicate the entire thing in CC3......interesting

Well, I believe the referenced map is CC3, so resemblances are good

Here are three more tree options, b,c and d. Any of these suit the style better?
The textures are b) seamless tile made from Istarlome's tree brushes, c) a tree texture from this site, with the cartoonify filter run on it, and d) the stock coffee bean seamless texture that comes with gimp, colourified, and with the cartoonify filter run on it.

My choice would be #2, though #3 isn't bad either.

Definitely D, I love that one!!
C is pretty good as well, but the smaller forests don't look that nice.

    Need D as a fill for CC3

My vote is for C because I have to learn how to get that look in PS.
