Thread: Timing out

  1. #1

    Post Timing out

Ok, I'm not the fastest of writers, but to be fair, I have distractions such as closing the window when the boss walks by - you know how it goes...

Anyway, I'm finding that by the time I've browsed the threads and thoughtfully composed my message and taken care of a few 'distractions', I go to post, and then get an error message saying I don't have permission to post because I'm not logged in.

It seems that while I was busy, my login has timed out and I have to try to copy my message, go back a page, then re-login and paste my message again before I can post.

I'm not sure if this is a browser problem, an internet connection problem, or a site setting here, but this is the only site that seems to present this difficulty.

Can anyone shed any light on it?

    Thanks.

    Hard to say.

    I stay logged in foreveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer.

Because when I do Log In, I select the check box: KEEP ME LOGGED IN.

If you have that selected, then it could likely be an internal setting within your compnay pertaining to your DHCP server and IP address renewal.

The login should be controlled by cookies within the browser. So what browser are you using ? I reckon most of us are using firefox.

If your at work I guess you're using IE. If it is cookies that handles the login session it might have something to do with how your IT-departmenthave decided to handle cookies in the browser. Depending on what kind of network your job has, a lot of the configurations on your computer can be handled centraly by someone else.

Yeah I get logged in every time I come to the site, never seen a session timed out before, unless there's something going on in your work environment.

    Thanks guys,

If the site admin doesn't know anything about it, it must be my end.

This issue is still plaguing me.

I can't find a KEEP ME LOGGED IN checkbox. Where is it?

    Cheers.

should be right next to the login box, to the right of it to be exact.

This has happened to me on occasion as well. From home, no less. I've always chalked it up to my connection since it is, at times, a bit fussy. As for the "keep me logged in" check box, the only one I'm seeing is a "Remember Me" box. No big deal for me, my posts are usually pre-written anyhow, but it can be frustrating. As a side note, however, I've seen this happen on a few other vBulliten Board driven forums as well.
