Wip My first map - What do u think?

    Hey,

I've been visiting this forum for a couple of weeks, and I finally came up with this
    map.

It's an out-of-date map for a game my friends and I are making.

What do you think about it?

Hey and welcome to the Guild!

Your map looks fantastic, I'd say. What techniques did you use, if I might ask?

Very nice indeed. Clean, clear and a nice set of colours. Great stuff, and welcome to the forums.

I agree with Torstan. Very clear style and good use of colors. A simple layout and not too many locations of interest, but that's what make this map so attractive to me.

And always nice to welcome a fellow Dutchman

Welcome! Why is everyone Dutch here?

Like the others have said before me, you have a nice and clean illustration style going on there.

The island itself seems pretty basic, though you might have been going for that. Some simple additions you could use would be sand dunes on the coast and such things. Additionally, the main road in Pendor going from the Growlow Forest to Port Al is a nearly direct line in between the towns that are on the way, which all have their own access roads splitting of from it. To have some variation in this respect, you could have the main road lead directly to one of these towns, and then continue on from there.

To make it pop out a bit more, you could go hunting for some nice high-res old paper textures.

That's all my suggestions done for, hope to see more!
Alas, my website features music, not maps. I do have a portfolio of some other things, though.

I like it too. I'm a big fan of light de-saturated colours for maps at this scale. Yours is very clear and informative and has a nice balance to the layout.

I like how your forest looks . But I noticed that your road "vanishes" to the forest.. If you cleared the forest away from the road, or made the road visible somehow, the overall look of the map might be enhanced that way. ( plus it would be a bit more informative )

well... i actually meant to give the forest a mysterious look by not-showing the road. But thats got to do with the former story of our game, and i agree with you it would be more informative to show the road.
