    Mea maxima culpa...

The issue is that some maps do not meet the criteria pre set, but are in the vote, so they can be voted, even breaking the rules.
    This is right?

Maps are withdrawn at the request of the artist only. http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=503 The bullet for "Judging Criteria". Personally, I hold the criteria for challenge guidelines as my most critical factor to determine my vote, followed by any other listed factors, but again, that's just me.

Yeah it shouldn't be any other way. These contests are just for fun anyway.

Because then it boils down to how did something the prettiest and frankly, some of use at just not that talented, so we need to catch a break by having a good set of rules to which the voter can interpret.

    I voted for:
    - Ascension. Original
    - Torstan. In my humble opinion, one of the maps with the most realistic rivers.
    - Korba. I really like the contrast between the two sides of the mountains and the way you made the rivers "stand out" in the forests and "flat" in the plains.

I could not choose a fourth entry.

Congratulations to Torq on an excellent map and a well deserved win. That race was hard fought to the line.

Congratulations to all the other entrants - I think we did a good job on this one and I don't think anyone incurred the wrath of the dreaded RP.

Thanks for those that voted for my map. Roll on the April challenge!

Well done Torq. The detail and clarity of the map is very impressive. Great to look at. You had my vote for #1 on this one.

RobA: impressive detail, and definitely spot on with handsomerob's technique.

Torstan: simple, clean, and stylish. Though this was a river challenge, i gotta say your mountains were what sold me.
