    Post Noob Reporting In

    Greetings.

I just discovered this site today and I wish I had done so a long time ago. I am in no way a professional cartographer, or even a novice for that matter, but have been drawing maps as a minor hobby for a few years now for various RPG/fantasy purposes. I've never really sought out any tutorials or map making tips before, probably because I'm stubborn and like learning things on my own.

Which is actually the reason why I am here. I just finished what I'd like to think is a pretty good map, and is the result of the longest graphic project I've ever undertaken. I also do graphic design as a hobby (photoshop, illustrator, etc), so I decided to combine both hobbies into one large project.

But since this is just an introduction thread, I won't really go into the map here - I'll make another thread about it in the 'finished maps' board.

But yeah! That's about it. I'm a map making noob looking for critique for my first real map project, and to now finally learn how to make a proper one, haha.

    I look forward to mingling.

    Regards,

    - Auth

Edit: Actually, no, I'm not going to post in the 'finished projects' section. I came here to get critique and pointers, and that's what I'm going to get before I consider the map finished, haha.

At any rate, glad to be here.

Welcome to The Guild. From what I can tell, you pretty much nailed it right off the bat so kudos for great work. Don't be afraid to chime in as you see fit -- coming from a graphic design background your input will be valuable. Be positive, friendly, and have fun but most of all give us more cool maps...we all have a certain addiction for cool maps.
