Hey, I got referred here from someone who said that you guys are a bunch of geeks who love making maps
Well, I'm a amateur GM and game designer. I do make a few games, and so far, map making is the toughest bit. I could say that this map will have rivers here and a forest there and some cliffs and beaches, and a mountain range.. but what I try to make looks.. lame. Something like SimCity 2000-ish, with neat, blocky roads, or getting the proportion all wrong.
So, I've been considering coding a random map generator just to handle that work for the rest of my life. Nice that I found you guys, lol.
Anyway, how does it work around here? Do you guys do modern city maps? I do have at least two maps I'd like to do, possibly unpaid, and one is to help me better imagine a certain fantasy world

Hah, yeah, the first thing I was working on is a simple modern town, for some game similar to X-Com Apocalypse.
Second is a new fantasy world, being built from the ground up, with a theme similar to the Southeast Asian island/jungles. Having a lot of trouble imagining that, and I'm sort of trying to built the countries' culture and economy and stuff based around what resources they have, and making a few conflicts around natural resources, as well as putting some big monsters in inhospitable places where people don't dare to tread.
Ooooh, I would like to see that map. X-Com Apocalypse is one of my favorite games ever. I need a sequel some time soon... the wait is killing me.Originally Posted by Muz
